System for staphylococci identification and susceptibility testing.

Integral System Stafilococchi is a 24-well system containing desiccated biochemical and antibiotic substrates for the identification and susceptibility testing of staphylococci. The system is inoculated with the bacterial suspension of the micro-organism under examination and incubated at 36 °C ± 1°C for 18-24 hours. The tests for identification and for the susceptibility testing are interpreted by assessing the change in colour of the various wells.

Integral System Stafilococchi makes possible simultaneous biochemical identification and assessment of the susceptibility testing of micro-organisms of the genus Staphylococcus isolated from clinical samples. The identification is based on biochemical tests performed on culture media containing specific substrates in the wells from 1-ADC to 8-MNN.

The susceptibility testing is assessed on the basis of the growth or inhibition of the micro-organisms in the media containing the antibiotic and a growth indicator in the wells from 9-CN to 23-SXT. Well 24-C does not contain antibiotics but only the culture medium and the indicator; it serves as a microbe growth control for assessment of the susceptibility testing.
